What is Hatch My House?

Hatch My House (HMH) is an interactive registry for the home. A registry where anyone can sign up, design a house and start saving money towards a down payment, home improvements or even furniture. Hatch My House can be used for weddings, birthdays, fundraisers, baby showers, graduations and many other events and celebrations. See sign up to learn more.

Who can create a registry?

Anyone over the age of 18 who has a Personal or Premier PayPal account.

Can I customize or change the prices of house items?

At this time, users cannot change the prices of items. All items are a set price, falling within a range of $15 to $250. However, at every price level ($15, $30, $50, $75, $100, $150) there are items that can be purchased over and over, so all users can always find an item in their price range.

What does Hatch My House do with my gifts?

Hatch My House never receives your monetary gift funds. Your gifts are collected by PayPal and moved directly to your PayPal account. Once PayPal receives your monetary gifts, they will remain in your PayPal account until you request to have them deposited into the bank account of your choice.

When do I receive my gifts?

'Recipients' can receive their gifts in about 3 days after the gift has been made by requesting a transfer to their bank account via their PayPal account.

What do I have to do to receive my gifts?

In order to receive your monetary gifts, you must verify your bank account with PayPal and then request payment.

Is Hatch My House secure?

Our Privacy Policy explains how Hatch My House treats your personal information, including your credit card information. Please note that while Hatch My House does not store your credit card information on its servers, it does use ‘Third-Party Service Providers’ who store this data in an encrypted form.
 

What is the sign-up fee?

‘Recipients’ who use the ‘Services’ provided by Hatch My House are required to pay a $24.95 sign up fee. This fee is used to cover administrative costs associated with your account: server space, PayPal account validation, e-card email service, and graphic and business development.

Is there a transaction fee on my gifts?

Hatch My House does not charge a transaction fee, but PayPal does. For each transaction processed PayPal charges 2.9% + $.30 per transaction. So, if a 'Recipient' receives a $100 gift, they will actually only receive $96.80, unless their 'Donor' opts to pay this fee for the 'Recipient'. In that case, the 'Recipient' will receive the total gift amount, plus or minus a few cents.

What kind of PayPal account do I need?

In order to utilize the Donate Button feature of PayPal for personal fundraising, you must be a Personal or Premier member of PayPal, agreeing to PayPal's Website Payments Standard Legal Agreements. There are some benefits to being a Premier member of PayPal, and we recommend that you sign up or upgrade to Premier. It does not cost you anything to do so and allows your family members and friends to donate money to you without having a PayPal account.

What is the difference between a personal and premier PayPal account?

There are some differences between a personal and a premier account. To review the differences, please see account type details on PayPal's website. We recommend that you sign up or upgrade to Premier. It does not cost you anything to do so and allows your family members and friends to donate to you without having a PayPal account.

How does PayPal work?

By creating a PayPal account, you agree to accept payments on your behalf. Therefore, your family members and friends can donate directly to you without knowing any of your personal information. You accept monetary donations online through your Hatch My House page, and the monetary gifts are deposited into your PayPal account. PayPal holds onto the funds until you are ready to deposit them into your bank account or use them towards online shopping. If you choose to deposit the money, you will have to link your bank account to your PayPal account. Once you request a deposit, you'll see the money in your bank account in approximately three days. Because PayPal is allowing you to accept payments on your behalf, there is a slight transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30. Your Hatch My House guests are informed of this fee and may donate extra funds to your account to make up for this difference. Hopefully, you will not see much of your gift money being applied to this fee.

How do I change my PayPal email in my account?

If you have made an error entering in your PayPal address or would like to change your current PayPal email to another account, please request a change by emailing info(at)hatchmyhouse.com.
